Touched down in London and the first thing I saw was a McDonalds. The world really is small...
We're going to keep all these blog posts short and sweet. Mainly because I don't think anyone besides my parents and maybe some close friends are even reading them. But also, because I'm in a city that's constantly moving and I would hate to miss it feeling attached to producing content. So a forwarning: This is a place for me to share day to day activites, thoughts, funny ideas, whatever. It's going to be random. Its going to be fun. So,
Let's do this.
“But nothing ever comes without a change.” -- GroupLove
Let's start with this quote and then we'll get to the McDonald's situation later.
I started my journey bright and early waiting for a plane to my new home and I was freaking out. I turned to the one thing that I've found makes everything better: music. I went through my older brother's playlists (thank you Riley) and downloaded a few in the hopes of feeling a little more at home. I fell into a bunch of new songs that made up my "Change of Scenery" playlist. A fitting name eh? So no I'm not a GroupLove superfan, but its upbeat tempo gave me the energy to board the plane and find my change. #deep
Fast-forward through 8+ hours on my flight from Boston to London Heathrow.
I wrote this little blip while I was in the air waiting for runway space to land in London:
"As the sun rises on my first day in the United Kingdom, I'm still hovering above it.
The plane that carried us all this way -- these thousands of miles is only now starting to illuminate. Below us are the gentle peaks of the clouds, swirling and twisting, looking almost like a blanket. It seems the whole world is waking up, though I didn't sleep a wink.
Above these clouds I travel to a journey I have yet to discover. Just me and these hundreds of strangers floating through the atmosphere, waking up to a new day and a new adventure together, yet so very far apart."
I stepped off the plane and into something so new. I was getting sentimental about living my best life and being the person I want to be. my headphones still blaring music with these sentiments in my ears. Luggage in hand, I emerge at the arrival gate looking for an internal sign or feeling I thought I would have. The hallway narrows into a single point, my sign. Two golden arches illuminating the path to my future. My sign.
It's a McDonalds.
Keep everything in perspective people.
